Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a member to play in Winston tournaments?

Yes. Only Winston members are able to play in our tournaments. Non-members must be accompanied by a Winston member in order to play at the club.

Are Winston tournaments suitable for all skill levels?

Yes. The Winston offers a variety of tournament formats designed to accommodate different experience levels, from social scrambles to individual championships. Formats and divisions are structured to encourage fair and enjoyable competition.

How do I register for a tournament?

Members can register for tournaments by contacting the Golf Shop directly at 403-984-1700 or via our online registration portal, available in Member Central on the website. We recommend registering early, as popular events like the Club Championship and Member-Guest tournaments fill up quickly.

Do I need an official handicap to compete?

Yes, all tournaments and competitions require a handicap. All Winston members receive complimentary membership with Golf Canada and Alberta Golf, which includes handicap tracking. For casual events like scrambles and couples nights, a handicap may not be required.

What if I’ve never played in a tournament before?

That’s fine! We design many of our tournaments with first-time competitors in mind. Team formats and social events provide a comfortable entry point into competitive play, allowing golfers to gain experience in a supportive environment.

What happens if I need to cancel my tournament registration?

Please contact the Golf Shop as soon as possible if you need to withdraw from an event. Different tournaments may have specific cancellation policies. More details will be provided at registration.
